Toronto Stage Quartet is an all-women string collective redefining live performance. We are classically trained musicians who stepped beyond the limits of stiff, lifeless tradition to pursue something more electric, more human, and more alive. We don’t treat pop music as “less than” classical music. Instead, we treat it as powerful, emotional,
and worthy of deep musical care.
TSQ is built around an audience-first philosophy. Every set is crafted with the people in the room in mind: their energy, their memories, their connection to the music. Through our careful preparations, we end up becoming fans of the music as much as the audience, shaping performances that move, surprise, and fully engage. Our shows are as visual as they are sonic: precise, powerful, and charged with momentum.
What sets TSQ apart is our fluency in modern music. From soul to disco, EDM to prog rock, Hollywood to Bollywood, we understand groove, rhythm, and feel, including the elements that can’t be written on the page. We spend as much time listening as we do rehearsing so that we can translate - not just notes - but the pulse, texture, and emotion into strings.
Our musicians are Juno-winning and Grammy-nominated and have performed with artists like Stevie Wonder, Ed Sheeran, Michael Bublé, Babbu Maan, Beck, Burna Boy, Sigur Ros, Joe Hisaishi, and Mirvish Productions. They have also partnered with brands like Shoppers Drugmart, Canadian Tire, Honda, Twitter, and more.
